Default Conroe, TX

Been fishing here a lot since last year-its just a great lake with some awesome fishing if you're into bass. Got a friend down here who fishes T's and he emailed me today and it looks like Conroe will be getting the Bassmaster Classic in 2017.

Got mixed emotions about this-don't know that I want all the publicity and crowds and media here and its not a done deal yet but he said its gonna happen. Think I'll go somewhere else for a couple of weeks if its true. On the other hand, it would be great to see where they fish and what they throw.

The fact that they're coming here (if its true) tells me it really is as good a lake as I think it is.

What all is in the lake besides bass? Sounds like it's a rad place to fish... Real estate on the lake isn't that expensive either from what I saw.

Stripers, hybrids, catfish, crappie, white perch-all the usual suspects for a southern res. Real estate is expensive on the lake-a lot of McMansion's from that Houston oil money. We're looking at getting into a townhouse and still maintain a home in CO for the warmer months. Thing I like best about the lake-it fishes best in the cooler months-Nov thru Martch-when theres not a lot going on in CO

I have family on that lake.....huge bass in there....as well as many other fish. It hosted the Toyota bass championship a few years ago and survived....should be fine.

I've never seen a gator on the lake but others report seeing them up to 12-14 ft. Mostly on the undeveloped northern end of the lake and I don't fish there. If you don't know how to run the lake up there it can cost you a lower unit.

Its official-the 2017 Classic will be held at Conroe. Got mixed emotions about this-may just go away for 2 wks until the madness is over.

Plus guys catching MY fish-how dare they. Oh well, its a big lake and it can handle the pressure. It will be held in March-thats spawn, gonna be some big sacks weighed in.
