Spent the last 5 days down at lake mac and did a lot of catfishing, water was low but the fishing was great! I spend atleast 25 days a summer out at lake mac and this was by far the most successful trip this year, or really most successful trip in the last few years! I took pictures of almost all the fish and am just gonna start posting pics, almost all pictures are of separate fish
This fish had some sort of wound on it, almost looked like a big ass leech was on it
So with a couple poles and a few days I managed to catch around 40-50 fish I would say the week was a success. All fish were released. I had all 48 pictures copy and pasted only to find out I could only post 25 -_- I guess ill post them in the comments
Im from Colorado I live in aurora! Spend the majority of my time at quincy when im not at mcconaughy. Ive seen all your recent posts of all your troubles trying to catch cats in the metro area, might as well pack things up and head 3 hours down to mcconaughy for a couple days!
I really have never been that successful at big mac, I mean every trip I can catch around 50 catfish but atleast 35 of those are bullheads and the rest smaller 1-2 pound channels, but this trip was totally different I didn't catch one bullhead or any small channels
Ohyeah pound for pound they fight harder than the catfish! The cats are more of a steady fight and carp are all over the place, sometimes they'll swim towards shore so fast you have tons of slack and the second you start to bring that slack in they take off again! Definitely harder to control than a catfish to once out of water. I think the carp out there put up more of a fight then almost any fish of equal size ive even had them jump out of the water like bass
