Default Just another day in Tennessee

Buddy of mine back in Tennessee just sent me this pic.

They caught 12 cats over 10 pounds Monday night, kept several to eat... Tennessee is RIDICULOUS for catfish. =)

So is Texas. I had a good buddy that I would go look at the kiddie pool before I would knock on the door. Most times he would have a large cat hanging out in the kiddie pool. One time I went to the pool and about shit myself when I saw a Texas sized monster cat at 64 pounds. Freakin' BEAST!

That's a nice mess of cats in that cooler for sure.

I lived in Texas for several years... For 2 of those years I lived right next to Lake Palo Pinto. You wanna talk monster cats..... Jeeeeeez

We pulled a 78 lb. flathead out of the water one year. My dad had a friend who owned lake-front property on Palo Pinto and he had a dock there... We used to catch tons of big crappie out of a square trap door hole in the dock using yellow jigs.

Anyway, he ran a jugline from his dock to the shore. One day we went to visit him and go crappie fishing. On the way down to the dock, we noticed that all the jugs were submerged except 1 which was half under. Took 3 grown men and myself to get that fish onto the dock. It was flippin' massive. Wish I still had that picture... I think dad has it. HUGE fish

Lake Palo Pinto is also where I first saw a giant alligator gar. They hung out in the west side of the lake near the power plant's warm water.

BTW, had it been caught on rod and reel, it would have been a lake record...

My buddy lived in Grainger and caught his cats at lake Grainger. He was a trot line type guy, too. He would put whole perch on the hooks, set it out, come back in a couple days and pull it up.
