20% of salmon die of natural causes.

35% are killed in dams

48% are lost to El Nino

7.95% simply drown

37.6% are lost to bald eagle attacks

12% just get in fights and end up dead

17.25% are lost to lightning

84.6% of ALL salmon are lost to Grizzly Bears.

Default From Fly Shop video

Brilliance in action... from the Fly shop video

Quote:
"So there I am, I'm in Alaska, right... I'm on the Keenwah river, on the Keenwah peninsula, just outside of Anchorage... in Alaska... I've waded out, and I'm shoulder deep in this river and I am just slingin' bugs, okay... I've got 150... maybe 200 mile an hour winds comin down the canyon... right in my face.

I'm fishin' a Kerry Galloup triple articulated dungeon wagon streamer on a 9x tippet with a 4 wt. rod. That's when I spot a 32 1/2 inch bull trout slurpin' a sculpin hatch about 175-200 yards upwind from me... 200-227 yards and he's comin' up and he's hittin big bugs. And now your average fisherman is gonna look at that, and he's gonna think there's no way...

But what do I do? A little roll cast, a little 200+ yard roll cast. I get that rod tip back, right, to about 8:00 and I snap a roll cast forward, into that wind, and I land that dungeon wagon right on top of that fish and **HAMBONE!!!!!!**.... he hits that thing hard. I set the hook, lickety split. You set the hook like that; like I do, with the vim and vigor... BAM... he hits... vim and vigor. Right? Just like that, I've got thing hooked... for life. So what's it gonna do?

He just starts jumpin' out of the water. So, every time he jumps, that wind is carrying him 20, 30, 40 yards closer to me. Like a kite. Two jumps, he's in my net. In the air. I didn't reel. Didn't touch the reel. Set the hook, BOOM, he's in the air. Cuz I got him tired. BAM, he's in the air again.... right there.

The war is over.. I guess, you know. I brought it in, gave it a little. mmmm... kiss and release.

I didn't have a camera, so... no picture. But I DREW a picture of it. It's a water color"
