I did the same thing to my new flip over clam ,i brushed against it with my auger blade , i took it all apart and bought two small black velcro strips , as the clam has them all over it anyways to fold back doors and such, and i sewed the material one on the front and one on the back , you cant even tell its been fixed and doesnt have to match the existing material . worked excellent

Re: Patching an Ice Shelter

You've got great advice here and local contact info many of us will look back to in the future. Thanks for posting this! I'd second Paul's Custom Canvas -- local boaters are familiar with their work.

On my Frabil hut I used duct tape inside and out, and sewed it in place by hand (while listening to a Bronco game so I didn't feel like I was wasting my time). Now it has "character."

I actually have a patch for both inside and out of both cuts. Was told that the adhesive on the patches is gunna be plenty to hold it.

Stick the patch on the inside, smear a bit of marine goop on the outside to seal the cut, and get out fishing.

Re: Patching an Ice Shelter

Stopped by http://www.jedscustomservices.com/ and Johnny hooked me up with the patches Thanks again Johnny!! Place isn't far at all from where i live. Just off feds.

Anyway here are a couple pictures of what he gave me. They seem to be clear in color and they came off of a roll he had, He said he didn't have any of the "Kits right now"

As for application: he said To take some rubbing alcohol and clean the area where the patch is gunna be.(The Kit normally comes with one) And to apply a patch to both inside and out. No sewing required just stick it on. He said make sure it is where you want it before sticking it cause there is no 2nd chance lol

Said if i were to take the cover off the hut and bring in just the cover. Would be about $15. More if you bring in the whole hut.

Super nice guy! Said he's got extra fabric and stuff lying around and to just ask. Owns the place, i havn't seen any of his work to vouch for that unfortunately but I bet he does a great job.

Once I get these patches installed I will post some more pictures of the install if anyone is interested. :/
