Ive been having great luck tying most of my pike patterns on weedless hooks such as eagle claw 449w's. (the kind you would rig a plastic worm on) im not sure if anyone else has done this or not. . i was in the market for a solid weedless fly but wasnt happy with tying in a monofilament weed guard. I found that most patterns were still easy to tie by bending the wire straight past the eye and adjusting the angle of wraps slightly.. ive been fishing them successfully in super thick weeds, even skating them on top of thicker mats. just throwin it out there for others lookin for a great weedless option. the only problem ive found, is occasionally hitting objects during the back cast, can disengage the wire from the point. been kickin butt for me for a few years now! oh, just be sure to pinch the barbs on the shank, ive cut thread on them a few times, and the black wire mount makes for a great base for dumbell eyes. happy tying!
