Re: Vexilar vs. Aqua Vu

I have the shallow depth model [ range,s down to 120ft] --really have'nt needed it for anything deeper, if I'm going to fish the bottom, I like the feel of the hit.

Toys totally rule, ice fisher. Seriously, get the Vexilar. And get the soft case for it. Keeps the snow out of your electronics. Liked that the camera came with one of those.

Fish on.

Re: Vexilar vs. Aqua Vu

My wife bought me the AquaVu for my birthday. I agree with everyone that it's a toy. But, I like toys! It's very fun getting the visual of what's going on down there. Seeing the bottom structure and weed bed is exremely helpful. It was a great gift, I'm very happy with it.
I think I will buy a Vex when the budget allows, like I said, I like toys.
I've narrowed it down to the Vex FL-20 and the Marcum LX-5.

Get a Vexilar. Get a Vexilar. Oh, did I say, Get a Vexilar.

I have a buddy at work who picked up an older FL-8 just to use on his pontoon for vertical jig fishing. Haven't convinced him about ice fishing yet.

The camera, which I have, is a lot of fun, but it's really more of a toy for me. Turns you into the first kid on the block with the new video game system - never knew that it could be that cool just watching your jig bouncing around in 50' of water, but everybody wanders over to look at it anyway
Now the Aqua Vu depthfinder, well, I'm a Vexilar gal myself, and I like the display on mine.

Still say Vexilar is the way to go. Husband drove through a snowstorm from Gunnison to the tackle shop
out at Quincy and Parker to buy the last FL-8 SLT when they were new in '95, is still using it years later,
and it still works. (He yakked to me so much about the Auto Zoom on the FL-18 that I finally got my own last year, and now he might be able to convince Santa that he needs a FL-20.)

Manual depthfinder is to Vexilar as yo-yo is to XBOX 360

Re: Vexilar vs. Aqua Vu

the vexilar is the best choice , i have both a vex and aqua vu, i had a my camara for one year and the dam screen is all jacked up , i wouldent buy one again , i have a vex and it works excellent , if you want the bang for the buck id go with the vex, the aqua views work good in clear water lakes , and murky water you aint seeing nothing , just my opinion

Re: Vexilar vs. Aqua Vu

I just read all the old stuff from Johnny's post. It's almost unanimous, VEX!
Just stopped by Sportsmans Warehouse to see the new Vex FL-20. $500!!
Pretty cool though, hard on the budget though, I work for a living.
Thanks everyone for your help.
See you at 11 mi. Sat.
