koldkut I like that JM carbon black, it feels good and casts good for me, I really can't ask for much more from a reel, it's not exceptionally brilliant to the point where it glows in my hands, but when I fish it, I don't notice it, so it's not lacking anywhere.

rvinson Is that a BPS Johnny Morris Carbon Black reel? You like it?

I got a BPS Johnny Morris Carbon Black that I originally purchased for my father for fathers day.. But he only used it a couple times before he passed away

Unfortunatly it's a right hand retrieve though So probably gunna off load it @ some point. I had heard it's a good reel though?

koldkut The best performing reels in the bunch was that ABU6501, no tiny line guide to clog with ice, and it's got orange seal bearings in it. The Revo could use new bearings as the factory ceramics are loud mofos.

koldkut The BTSWB954's are 95"(7'11") long and 4 power, rated to throw 1/2oz-3oz baits.. I have a 955 on the way(5/8oz-6oz baits), and the red and black shrink wrapped grip rod is a 7' 9" developmental blank that could end up being the Hydra 6 power swimbait rod, but I'd like to to come in at 8'3", or 99".

Swimbo and Boon have both fished the 955 I sold to Van...

FishDr Good looking rods! What are their lengths?

Micro-guides and ice don't mix for sure, but I keep wondering if anyone has made heated guides? That would sure help on those cold spring nights!

Swimbait rods

Got out yesterday for a little rod testing, a couple of Hydra NG BTSWB954's. Micro guides and ice don't mix folks...

Ad the third rod, pictured here, a Hydra NG BTSWB Heavy rod, casts nicely, but I did not have any heavy enough baits to even come close to loading it up properly. The Abu reel with upgraded bearings was still able to chuck an estimated 60 yards with a 2.5oz. bait.
