Oyey It was a great read.... While I have never dealt with anything like it, I do know that fucking doctors are pushing psychotropic drugs like candy to kiddos... They are the devil IMO... Glad fishing helped, and glad you realized that the pills were not a permanent solution.

What kills me is so many doctors never have any type of exit strategy when they start patients on pills...

Diesel, once again, nice write up and bravo for having the balls to publish. I hope your path is a good one from here on out.

max power Good stuff man! Thanks for writing about that. I've delt with depression and alcohol problems and felt hopeess myself. Fishing has always helped me feel better and helped me deal with my own personal problems in a big way! Your article is a good reminder that I NEED to make more time to fish, I have no worries when I'm wetting a line. The only beers that I have now are an occasional victory beer after a good day on the water!
Thanks for sharing your story.

dieseldoctor Thanks for taking the time to read it guys... I appreciate it.

I've thought about writing a little something about it for years. Took me 10 minutes to write and a few hours to finally decide to publish it. The Robin Williams story really hit home with me and led to me writing this short blog.... If even one person stumbles across the blog and it reminds them of their passions that maybe they've lost track of while struggling with anxiety/depression I'll be beyond stoked.

It's been years since I've had any real issues with anxiety/depression, but I also fish quite a bit! Obviously fishing alone didn't help me overcome my problems...the hope that fishing gave me started me down the right path.

Rip Lip I cannot relate to living with conditions like that, but it is admirable that you mostly beat the symptoms by fishing a lot. Most of us probably don't realize the healing qualities of fishing. You have a lifetime to fish and I hope that continues to be a happy place for you that keeps you out of your room. It's a shame that doctors would rather push more pills on you than encourage you to find something natural that makes you feel better. Keep it up my friend!!
