littleyellowkayak Newbie on the forum here but I've fished on base for almost two years now and yeah, there are cats in both haymes and townsend. Hit townsend for cats. Chicken liver off the boat ramp around 1030 pm or so. I've had good luck bouncing bluegills and big tubes off the dam around dusk too. There are stocked lakers in there too but I've yet to catch one, only seem them dead. Send me a pm if you ever get out there I'll be glad to meet up.

kirbydog I believe so. Ft Carson has an outdoor rec dept-they could tell you more.

Forgot to add-after you get your pass to go on base you have to go to outdoor rec and get an annual fishing permit-I think they're $30.

If you think I'm telling you its not worth it your right.

kirbydog Gotta get a pass to fish here. They do a thorough background check, then the pass is good for 6 mo's and you need to renew. Honestly, it became such a hassle to fish here between getting a pass and the vehicle checks at the gate I just let my pass expire.

Fishing at Haymes is not that good anyway. Small bass, stocker trout, and some crappie-never caught a catfish here but I know there are some in there. Townsend is a better lake. Years ago there was teller res on the south end of Ft Carson that had great fishing but it went dry during the drought and has never refilled.
