My uncle used to make fly rods from bamboo and sell them. I have one and don't fly fish. (I boat fish) It is new and told it may be a collectible. Does anyone know the best place to bring it for an appraisal. Thanks, Joe
I'd try here. Being handmade by your uncle, I'd imagine to be worth much, monetarily, he'd have to have been known, with a fairly significant number of sales. But at the minimum, you may have a fun rod to fish, handmade by your uncle. And, you could always try fly fishing out of your boat.
Classic Fly Rods online is a good place to start. If you want to have a person-to-person conversation, and you don't mind a bit of a drive, South Creek, on Main Street in Lyons is a (relatively) local bamboo nexus to check out. At the least, you could get some advice on quality and, perhaps, market value. HPH
