I don't buy it. Seems like more assumptions to me. I'd like to see their data.

If you cannot obtain fresh suckers, anchovies are the best thing. I actually do better on dead anchovies for pike than I did on fresh suckers that were freshly killed.

Wellington has a ton of suckers, thought the reports from there seem slow. Could be a pricey skunk though.

For laker fishing, one thing you can do is buy live shiners the night before, put them in a fridge in a baggy without water that night, then the next morning (when they're dead) you can take them with you and fillet one side and use it on the hook instead of the suckers.

It's a fresher alternative
