Re: carp

I have tried for 2 weeks at Chatfield with corns and bread dough.
I did not catch anything.
I usally catch good size from there till September though.
Right at Ranger station shore was the spot.
I think I will try St vrain tomorrow.

Re: carp

Been pretty tough the past two weeks, either getting wise to my game or they have shut off till spring. You get one or two if we have some really warm days, but I would switch to trout, walleye, and perch fishing. Sorry about the bad news.

Re: carp

One of my buddies has been picking them up here and there latley slip wagglin' with some homemade bait of our own recipie. Definatley super slow though. My buddy fishes all of your standard Front range impoundments and ponds open to the public

My buddy enjoys a challenge so he uses ultralight tackle and 2# mono. He almost landed a 15 LB plus on his 2 LB test a couple weeks ago. Talk about a LONG fight. The carp was whipped, but he found the strength for a final run that closed the deal for his escape. I was on standby to dive in to land it but it just wasnt in the cards that day.

Re: carp

I usually snag them by accident while bass fishing. This year I hooked an old piece of line, and there was a 6 pound carp on it.
Though the Colorado River around my area has lots of carp, I don't often catch them since I'm using chicken liver or cut bait. Carp seldom eat those things, but I have had them do it.
