Re: My boat stinks

It sounds to me like you either have a leak in one of the fuel hoses, or a leak in the tank. It is also possible that someone spilled a gas can a while back....

Check the water that comes out of the back of the boat when you pull the plug. Tilt the front of the boat way up if you have too - or add a little water if need be. Does the water have gas in it?

Re: My boat stinks

The last time someone described a situation like that to me they found a leak in the gas tank.

Re: My boat stinks

Take it to a boat shop and have them look it over.. Im sure they have seen it all before. Best bet.. Plus even if they take a ganders at it you still wouldnt have to pay anything so long as you can fix it yourself.

My boat stinks

I bought a 92 16' Lund last year. It has two batteries up in the hull compartment for the troller. When I open the hatch there is a very strong gas smell. There is a sticker that says not to store gas in there. I assume the gas tank runs along the bottom of the boat?? Is there a vent for the gas tank somewhere in that compartment. I thought the guy I bought the boat from spilled gas, but the smell won't go away.
Any info would be helpful, it just doesn't seem right to me.
