Wish I would have gotten that response yesterday when I was turned away and told the ice was to dangerous and to come back in January. I was pretty upset about that, since it was my original destination with my kids. Well, maybe I'll get over the sour grapes and go back there anyway, it is a cool place even though I don't like having to pay for it.

I think the only way I ice that Wellington this year is if there is a meetup or as a plan B or even a plan C if Kenosha is lcosed if I try to go to Tarryall, Antero or Elevenmile via Kenosha.

Rob.
MAYBE----MAYBE-- Plan Z. Possibly if it were the last lake on earth- MAYBE-- :p

Hey all, is Wellington kinda like a Georgetown? Good place to go catch a bunch but prob wont catch a lunker? Just curious what the fishing is usually like up there.
TONS of suckers. Pricey to get in. Nice brooks and trout if you catch some. Well, 15 = 20 is about the typical size. Brooks smaller of course.

Palomino's are sorta common there though, and that is the main attraction imo.

Actually, yeah. I am. I have seen more than a handful of large trout come out of Georgetown.... do a search on the forum on georgetown. I personally have helped one person land a trout that was pushing 13-14 pounds that he caught on fly and bubble... and I have caught a few browns that were about 18 to 20 inches during their spawning run.

most of the big fish in that lake are too smart for the powerbait dunkers, so you got to use secondary things like panther martins, flies and other lures. ::) ;D

I always have been a fan of georgetown. best lake to go take your family to, if you just want to catch fish and have fun.

the river above the lake is bananas for trout as well.
I hear ya Dave. Thats actually my fave after work Friday spot in the summer. Bust out the pontoon or the belly boat. I've had several 25 - 30 trout days there in just a matter of hours. There are plenty of big trout in there, just gotta know where to find em at - and a belly boat affords you that opportunity.
