The one bought at Borders is Copyright 2005 Swagman Publishing.. I suggest not buying from Amazon........

Gotcha, the copyright to the link online is 2000, so I would maybe use it as a trail guide. If the new one is '05 then it is much better.

As an example, the original "Fishing the Grand Mesa" lists Grayling in multiple reservoirs, while the newest one list them in only one small lake, noting that they have not survived in the others.

Ok.. Actually, the copyright on mine is 2005, so it may be as up to date as the Grand Mesa book.. It's a start.

Re: July 4th weekend...Blue Mesa or Grand Mesa

YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The copyright is from 2000, 9 years of drought have changed a lot. They stopped stocking most of the lakes in 2002, the last "Fishing the Grand Mesa" is from '05. Plus, you have to consider that I live 45 minutes from the top, and I fish it on a very regular basis. Books are a good start for the basics, but they are always lacking and out of date considering how long it takes to put a book together and then publish, then get it to stores. 9 years is just the copyright date, I would bet that it took them several years to gather all of the info, so it could be as old as 12 years or so. During drought conditions, that is an eternity.

Is the atlas out of date compared to the Fishing the Grand Mesa book?

Too bad the info is so out of date. They list multiple lakes with species that were there before the drought, but they are not there now.

Good guide to find some mud holes though

Plugging my favorite fish guide.. Colorado Fishing Guide and Atlas appears to have the entire Fishing the Grand Mesa book in it as well as the Close to Home one..

http://www.amazon.com/Colorado-Fishi...4681446&sr=1-1

You can look at anything you want online at Amazon.. p124 is the start of the Grand Mesa section. I got mine at Borders.

Nice. I have heard of that book and may pick one up. I live in Denver and usually dont travel that far for fishing. I may head the other direction and go to some warm water fishing.

Thanks for the info, I do appreciate it.

It is usually quite a zoo up there on the 4th. If you plan on fishing it more than once ever, definitely pick up a copy of "Fishing the Grand Mesa" great book. I have one in each of my vehicles. Way to many lakes to mention, but the book will get you on fish. I will be up there this weekend for grayling and cutt's

HaHa, that sounds like a ploy to me. LOL!

Dont worry I am a catch & release guy and clean up after myself and others when I go out.
