That is Jeff Looney (aka fishinlooney). He still posts once in a while. He makes really nice rods, including ice rods, and they are reasonably priced. I have a laker spinning rod that he made for me that is terrific. I just don't use spinning gear much any more.

Re: Best Ice Rods?
Seriously,
Go down to Eagle Claw and buy the LAKER. I have fished it for five years. It is fiberglass and inexspensive. Get the straight butt if you do. Not the pistol Grip. I have outfished many with this rod. The Hook set with this rod is superb.

Re: Best Ice Rods?
i like the bernie rods for macks , and for kokes and trout , i use the ugly stick ice rods , i tried frabills and broke three of them on hooksets , they are a waste of money in my opinion , what happended to that guy on the site that used to make ice rods , if i remember jason (coloradokid) has some and they were real nice rods

All my rods are HT Enterprises, Mitchell, Berkley, and Frabill. Only about $20 each at Sportsmans Warehouse, Wal-Mart, and General Fishing Tackle.

Re: Best Ice Rods?
Gander Guide Series.
St. Croix Premier Series.
Jason Mitchell Series.
Those are my top 3.
As far as ice suits go...i was VERY happy with my Cabela's Guide-wear parka & bibs (7years worn through bass tournaments and on the ice). Sold those to get some Gander Guide Series h20 Parka & Bibs....LOVE THEM. Just layer underneath with some under armor & fleece...Perfect.

Purchased the Strike Master gear. The owner wasn't sure if he had xl bibs and if not he would throw in the new arctic armour bibs. The owner did say Strike Master quality is really good and water proof but fits a little tighter, If it doesn't fit good he told me no problem send it back and go with arctic armour.
