Looking to add some guideons to my shorelandr trailer for my 18 ft lund. Does anybody have thoughts on bunk style vs roller guideons. One thought I had would be that i could add some LED lights on the top of the roller guideons for night landing.
Sealed LED trailer lights along with the tail lights on my truck is enough light for me to get my boat loaded in the dark. I don't care for guide ons because of the scratches they cause. If your trailer is placed with enough of the bottom bunks exposed out of the water (I leave about 1/3 out on my 18' Lund) they hold and center the boat just fine.
I've always heard that roller bunks can damage your hull. One thing you might look into-they make trailer glide slicks that go on top of the bunks and minimize friction.
