Re: Favorite swimbaits?

My favorites for pike are the 7 and 9" Slammers and the 6" BBZs. I caught my PB and another high 30s fish on the 7" Slammer, along with lots of 20 - mid-30 range fish on the 7" and 9" Slammer and the 6" BBZ. My best colors for pike are perch and rainbow trout.

In addition to the Slammers and BBZs, I'd take a hard look at the Dynamos - I know the SW Colorado pike specialists have been doing some serious damage with those. Serious, serious damage!

Re: Favorite swimbaits?

My favorite is the Huddleston 68 special, But I would imagine it wouldn't hold up to too many pike. If you are looking for an affordable hard bait the BPS Z9 has decent action & works well for pike.

Re: Favorite swimbaits?

My all time favorite for many species are j-13 rapalas they are killer, I use them everywhere I go from all inshore species in mexico and costa rica to pike and lakers in canada to king salmon in Alaska. I get rid of the front hook and put a single on the rear, I lost a very large laker on one Sunday at Granby and had the barb pinched also, got to see the fish at the boat before it woke up and took off under the boat at warp speed a few head shakes and gone, awesome, then another follow up. I only use a few lures, never even tried a dynamic or whatever it's called.

1. Dynamos
2. Hudds
3. BBZ

and if you're really brave, or rich...
4. 3:16's

I'm still trying out the FX Fury's with Lastkast 40lb fluro leader but the early boat ramp closings didn't help!
