tried deer island for salmon from 7-9. not a thing. there were a bunch of people out there and we saw 1 salmon landed.i am sure there were a few more but that's all we saw. i had a newbie with me,first time ever ice fishing so i wanted to get him into fish. so we went over to stoll mountain and first tried 11 ft of water. nothing. then was reading fish on my side scan about 100 ft away. moved there and were in 14 FOW. started to read an occasional fish and every time the fish finder beeped we caught a fish. i ended up icing 5, the newbie 2. 15" was the small,20 inch the biggest.all glow rat finke was best, but we caught them on a grren cheille jig,a red metal jig also. all on waxies.beautiful day. no wind!! just about no one out at Stoll mtn.

Sounds like the best day to take a newbie... Did they enjoy it?
