We arrived at the secret honey hole about 7am. Walked out and cut some holes and started fishing.Depth was 12 feet.Saturday was an above average day for #'s and an average day for size.It was about average for weather-Chilly in the morn, then warm enough to almost remove some clothing then a slight breeze in the afternoon to cool things off a little. It was a better than average day for action-I think that Tom beat me 7 to 6 in bos caught, and we were close in hits prolly 15-20 each. Lakerlunker and friend showed up about 1.5 hrs after us and I already had 2 on ice and had missed 4. The early action for me was on a 1/4 oz gold kasty. My other fish were caught on the green lazer. Tom had best luck on tiny little Ratso's.Heres a pic of Tom holding the biggest,a 18" chubber- and a couple showing the pile of dead bodies.

Looks like a great day out on the hard water. Did you tip your lures with anything? Were you catching the fish off bottom at 12 ft or where you catching them suspended at 12 ft?

a. Ice fishing shelters must be portable.
b. Bag and possession limit and minimum size for trout is 4 fish. No more than 2 can be over 16
inches long.

We fished the mile Sat. Didn't get to the res till 10:00 due to my christmas party the night before. Started fishing south of the north boat ramp for about an hour...nothing..only saw one pike on the underwater cam. Talked to Larry and he said another guy fished there early had only had one bite....he hooked us up with some lure suggestions and free stuff and sent us over to rocky flats were I caught one 17" bow on a pink 1" power bait sparkle tube....that was it..we saw some trout swimming buy on the cam and a pike that was checking us out but was not interested in eating our lures. Left at about 2:00 and headed to Tarryall...fished until dark with non-stop action on stocker bows which made my 13 year old nephew happy. We will be back Early next Sat. to try again. That ice was really popping Sat....almost gave my wife a heart attack when a tremor came right through our tent and a crack played connect the dotes with all four of our holes. I love ice fishing!!

I`ve heard several of you saying you used Kastys while ice fishing. My question is this, are you jigging these fast...........slow .......... pause after jigging.......?? Do you tip these with bait?

Sorry for the ignorance guys, I just never used Kastys thru the ice, just love to pitch`em during the summer. Thanks for your help. Jeff

the short answer YES.
It all depends on how the fish want it fast jigging usually brings fish in, slow jigging or dead sticking will usually entice them to bite, but if they are agressive then fast jigging is great. Also some ppl take the hook off a kast and tie a 2-6 inch dropper and tip it with something and have good luck that way as well.
