Fished 11 Mile on Saturday. -30 degrees at 6:30 am. Fished the North Shore area east of the store in 18 FOW. Since the DOW had recently released a bunch of stockers in the area we figured we may see some hogs cruising for an easy meal. Within a minute of putting my line in I set the hook on a monster bite only one problem, my reel was frozen the drag worked a little but my reel was locked up. I tried sticking the whole rig in the hole to losen it up, all the time I'm running out of line. I sure would have liked to have seen that fish. Tons of stockers in the area saw 6 pike in the 30-36" range caught and landed one. Quite a few good size Trout too, but The amazing thing was the Kokanee. schools and schools of Kokes in the area. By days end I had 1Koke 1Pike and 1 Rainbow. As others have reported the bite was a little slow but we sure saw a mess of hogs.

Hey JL,

We never made it to DeWeese. Looks like this weekend. I went to 11 Mile with Bill, early Saturday am. He lost a giant right off the bat and then had a slow day. I got 2 nice fillets off of the pike each about an inch thick and about 18" long.

There sure were a lot of big Trout and Pike cruising the area we were in the North Shore spot you showed us last year. I went through a bunch of lures/colors/sizes trying to get the bigun's to bite. They would hang around and bump the lures but wouldn't bite. Bill and I saw at least 5 trout in the 5-8 lb range. Anyway I got what Bill refers to as the 11 Mile Slam 1 Trout 1 Pike and 1 Koke. (Just don't ask how big the trout was.

send me an email with your future Ice plans....
