I recently returned from a fishing trip in Alaska. Soldotna, AK to be specific. Brought home 73# of salmon and halibut fillets. This was my first time going, and went through GoneFishin Lodge. Price was great , lodge great and fishing fantastic. Even was able to locate area on the Kenai to avoid the "combat fishing". Will be going back in 07. If anyone is interested in Gonefishin Lodge , please contact me. For prior to booking, I had spent many, many hours researching on where to go. I would be glad to convey my experience and maybe help with some insight to other "first timers" to Alaska.,

Combat fishing refers to fisherman standing shoulder to shoulder, casting out lines to the river. Does get interesting when a salmon gets on. EG: you have about 100 fisherman line up, fisherman #5 gets a hook up, fish heads upstream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
