The wife and I decided it was necessary to get the boys out for a bit of fishing and a little recon work. We took them up to the grand mesa. As always there were a fair amount of small trout willing to eat. We were throwing caddis patterns all afternoon. We caught bows, browns, a few brookies and one cutty. The bows looked to be in full spawn. Also spawning were suckers. Lots and lots of suckers. The boys were catching them barehanded. If you're looking for mac bait, there is plenty to take. The creeks seem to be coming down and the water color was a bit dirty, but very fish-able. Anyway, still some snow up there, and muddy, and even some ice/slush on the higher lakes but the season should be in full swing.
