I have been told that Cherry Creek is not one of best waters to fish in and not to eat any fish that is caught in Cherry Creek.
So.........how much truth is in that?????????

Man-o-Man. I wish someone would start a rumor that it's not safe to water ski or jet ski in CC. There is nothing wrong with the water @ CC. If there were don't you think the DOW or OCHA or someone else would not allow people in the water if there were? Ive been hearing this for 20yrs about CC. Dont believe the hype!

This rumor was started 20+ yrs ago when they found a corpse in the water. I also always heard that the fish taste like motor oil. I have eaten CC fish and didn't taste anything different than any other metro area lake. Maybe we should start a rumor: "Metro area fisherman report jet skiers at Cherry Creek taste like carp"

ANother reason I gets a bad rap is it's fertility. There is a sod farm up stream and the nitrogen they use as fertilizer ends up in the lake and fuels the amazing food chain there! Thats why you get the algie blooms some summers and the shad are so numerous.

Also, people leave alot trash in the water also.

I was told about the fertilizer thing.
Other than you guys reply's on this topic, the people who have talked to me about eating fish caught at CC have also told me "definitely don't".
The way I see it now, is this: If anyone wants to eat the fish they catch at CC, that's entirely up to them. But, for myself and my wife, if we do end up ever fishing there, we will do the "catch and release" thing.

I sure hate those jet skiers there. I have also heard that the water quality is bad there. I heard many things such as the fertilizer contamination, an oil spill, and even cases of ecoli. I really don't care though, I have drank Commerce City water all my life that has been contaminated by the arsenal and I am perfectly healthy. The fish that I have eaten out of there taste just fine and dandy to me.
