Any tips on using Kokanee Killer lures?

I got some Kokanee Killer lures with the e-chip thing. I got the colors in orange, red and pink. These lures have two trailing hooks. I have heard rumors about putting a piece of corn on one of the hooks. Is this right? Can you also fish them plain or with other things like sucker meat? Also, do other species like rainbows or macks strike these lures?

I have a canoe and fish finder. I was planning on locating the depth that most fish are holding and adding a lead barrel sinker about 3-5 ft in front of the lure, and adjusting lead weight and canoe speed to get the lure to about the right depth. I have had good luck using this method on rainbows, but wanted to give the Kokes a try. I do know they are in the lake I intend to fish.

You can use a piece of nightcrawler about 1/2" to 1" long, salmon eggs, powerbait or Gulp. I've never tried a piece of sucker meat, and I don't think I would. If you try sucker meat I would make it a very small thin piece. Go buy a can of "Shoepeg White Corn" at the grocery store and use a kernel on your hook. I prefer to hook one piece with the open end of the kernel facing back. I think the Shoepeg corn outproduces everything. Also experiment without the bait on the hook.

YES!

The last time I went to granby I was trolling a peanut with a dodger. I put a whole, frozen sucker on the peanut and landed a koke. Anything can happen.

It was about 2in. I was shocked too. I set the rig out for lakers and was shocked when I pulled in the Koke. Maybe it didnt even see the sucker and went straight for the peanut which was a bright orange?

i use wedding rings and kokanee killers , both work excellent for kokanee , last year we had some good times killing the kokes on wedding rings , i like arnies also , i havent figured out needlefish , they seem to have no action behind my pop gear

My grandfather fished for Kokanee with pop gear and a Dick Nite and we used to always catch tons of fish. I still use just plain ole Dick Nites and needlefish and do real well. I don't think you need a huge amount of action as the attractor (pop gear or dodger) attracts the fish not the action of the tiny lure they bite.

I tried the Kokanee Killers at my local fishing hole. Trolled them behind the canoe while fighting the wind until I was tired and went home. I was showing fish on the fish finder at 15-25 ft and decided to put a big barrel sinker above the swivel about 3 ft in front of the lure to get it down deeper. The other lure was on the surface. The deep lure is the only one that got hits. Got 2 kokes and one rainbow. First time I ever caught a koke!
