Arkansas in Salida, Saturday, 3/18

While I was running the Salida Marathon my son fished the Arkansas just below Salida. He had a great day and caught over 20 browns and a few bows on a size 18 green copper john with a size 20 gun metal midge dropper. He had nonstop action for over 3 hours but no surface activity to speak of. Those were the only two flies he fished all morning (10-1).

The weather conditions were perfect during the morning and the flow was great. It was a dumb decision to run instead of go fishing. Get out there if you can - I'm sure that Arkfisher will tell you the same!

Sounds like you ran the marathon in 3 hours?

j/k
You a funny man....very funny ;D

It was a trail marathon from Salida to the ghost town of Turret then back to town via single track dirt bike paths. Lots of mud, snow and slush...I definitely was "finished" by 3 hours but still had another 3 hours to go.....ouch. :p
What ever doesnt kill us..... I knew I should of fished it below Salida, hit that private land area and decided I'd just fish in town. Glad he had a great day, when I hit it I didnt have the fly rod in the jeep so I might not of done as well as him anyways.
