Fished below dam on saturday feb 4th spent more time looking for a hole to fish than I did actually fishing. So many people. Caught one 13 inch rainbow on size 18 black beauty around 2 in the afternoon. That was my first time fishing this area is it always that crowded ?

Weekends directly below the dam are tough. You'll find better fishing and less people further downstream. You might want to try parking at the Nature Center, off Pueblo Blvd - highway 50 west to Pueblo Blvd. Take Pueblo Blvd south and follow the signs. You don't need a permit to park there and there is a lot of access to the river that receives a lot less pressure than the state park does.

Try even farther down than the nature center. There's plenty of great holes and hardly any Fly Fisherman. You may run across the occasional bait fisherman, but that's it. O0

Hatchmaster - I feel for you! Anytime you're willing to come down south, put on your Hawaiian shirt and give me a holla - we'll tear 'em up!
