Fished the Arkansas west of Pueblo on Sunday, hoping for some dry fly action. Unfortunately I only saw 2 rising fish all afternoon; however, both eagerly took my parachute BWO. I did hook a number of fish on a #12 BH prince, #16-18 copper johns and pheasant tails, and #14 bright green caddis pupa. Fish were concentrated on the edges and in the faster water right where the riffles dumped into the deeper pools. About a dozen browns to hand from 10-15 inches, with the majority in that 12-14 inch range.

Saw tons of midges and BWOs on the water, and was surprised by the lack of rising fish. Does it take them a while to get used to seeing bugs on the surface?
