I was reading in my handbook that if you operate your gas auger at high altitude the exhaust and exhaust ports need to be cleaned out after 100 hours of use. Does anyone do this?

I never did any maintenance on my auger that we've used for about 8 years. Anyway nothing that 50 pulls on the cord can't overcome. John

Carbon is usually a factor of type of oil burned.With a good quality 2-stroke oil carbon is not an issue.I've been using my strikemaster since 1991 and zero carbon.

I think if you run it at full throttle most of the time the exhaust will blow itself out. As long as the engine isnt burning rich the exhuast should not clog up.
