Fished Aurora with Zman this morning. We were on the water around 7a.

Fished the small cove directly across from the ramp, in about 2 hours, drifiting with the wind from there, going east by northeast about 300 yards, got 4 rainbows all around 16 inches. Kept on that was deeply hooked returned the others. Took 3 on crawlers and one on a minnow. Tried Senac cove after that. We caught nothing, but another boat reported catching trout and small walleye on crawlers.

Beautiful shirt and shorts weather, great morning for fishing.

I took off at noon, don't know how Zman did for the rest of the day.

I just put a couple of medium sized split shot a foot above the bait. Enough weight to drop the bait a bit but not really eough to drag the bottom. The wind kept us moving at speed of .5 to .8 mph.

the times when we did slow enough to drag the bottom we kept catching crawfish.

Went with Dan on Sunday as he said...he was brighter and a better fisherman than I...I got the skunk while fishing with him...I stuck with my leeches and casting instead of nightcrawlers like Dan...and at least the trout were biting for him he caught all four...here is one that I think measured 15 or 16...

He didnt even give me much crap...think he enjoyed the guide service...still waiting for my tip...we fished until about noon...water temp was anywhere from 61.5 to 63...Dan left about noon and my fiance Diane showed up with her father...she caught her first walleye about 16 inches on a nightcrawler...she didnt mind the slime but wasnt sure about holding the spiney creature...she will learn...

I finally got the board late in the day after casting my arms off on a shrimp drifted in the marina bay for wipers...was it a wiper...nope a 19 inch rainbow...I didnt get pictures because he ran through 3 lines and was a tangled mess and gasping pretty bad by the time I got him back in the water...I also lost half a rod overboard...not one of my better days...but the company and weather was great...the ribbing in the boat was pretty good too...

...squirrels find their nuts once in awhile...actually he was quite humble about it...and he knows a bunch of stuff I dont know...so I learned a couple of things...I just wish the walleyes would turn on one of these days...

Aman,

Glad to hear you had a decent afternoon, sorry to hear you lost a rod. But on the bright side now you can replace it with something better!

And I did enjoy the "guide service" I can't think of the last time that I did not have to run the motor and all that stuff. It was nice to let someone else do the work for a change.

It was a great morning fishing, looking forward to fishing with you again.!

Dan...

I have already replaced...bought a stout rod for Pueblo this weekend...kind of a wiper/musky rod...I am not used to using anything heavier than 8 pound for anything...

I dont view it as work...gives me something to do when I am being outfished!

Yeah me too on fishing together...send me your October schedule...we will do the boat on Chatfield after work into the dark...this cold snap ought to get them going...
