I got on the lake at 6:30 fished till 4:00, temp warmed all the way up to 42.3! I tried everything in the boat and all I caught was a 25" Bow! On a crawler rig and Bottem Bouncer. Does that make me a master angler? I saw a few other fish caught but they seemed to be all trout. With the level as high as it is , it's like fishing a new lake from the last few years.Overall it was good to get out but the waters still to cold.

Nice fish. Sorry you didn't get any other species though, but the water will eventually warm up. We all just have to be patient.
What else is in Aurora Res? Worth making the trip from the Springs to get into some bass?

Thanks,
Walt

Walt, I don't think it's worth it yet, I've seen some huge bass in the east cove where the feeder creeks come in last fall. some one on this site caught a 5 or 6 lb. smallie also last year. Check out auroras web site for a list or just read all the old post here for alot of info.

Dan,

Huge Wiper!!!!
Wipers to 20, Walleyes to 14, Trout over 10, and smallmouths to 5 with a possible state record swimming around in there...not too bad for a city lake...oh yeah and channel cats to 20 pounds also...
Well there's another lake to add to list for this spring!

If you're looking for bass I would go with Quincy Reservoir just down the street. From what I've heard the bass are starting to pick up. Of course if you have no luck at Quincy you can head back up to Aurora; it's only a five minute drive.

Good luck! 8)
