Arrived just as the gate opened and parked near the boat ramp. Was gonna put the belly boat in but the wind was howling.Decided to fish the dam and fished at the sign east of the tower. Skunked for a hour so headed to the crook in the dam.No bites on the magic power bait or plastic or metal.Tried a minnow on a bobber but the wind made it almost impossible to cast very far.Same for the p-bait,if I threw it hard enough to get it out far enough, the crap would come off the hook.Finaaly used a minnow with a water bubble, missed 4 fish before I caught a 12"er.By 10am I gave it up and went home. Guess that's why they call it FISHING!

Re: Aurora Res. on 10-15.

Saturday I put in at 6:45 by the scuba beach and began fishing a chrome and blue rogue.
Windy conditions usually work better for bigger baits but no luck. Switched to a perch colored rapala and picked up
two rainbows and a smallmouth in about an hour. I was surprised that trout hit a perch pattern for this lake. Usually it's a good walleye pattern.
Too windy to fish tubes on the point so I went into the cove to get out of the wind. Threw a spook against the reeds but no luck. Fished a tube and Gravy and picked up one more rainbow. Caught another rainbow on rainbow Nitro bait with the gravy.
Even though it's more work I prefer windy conditions as it seems like the fishing is always better but not in this case. This week's weather will not help the lake cool much. Maybe in a couple of weeks if the temps drop, the bigger rainbows will turn on.

Re: Aurora Res. on 10-15.

Just thought I would add my non-results. I arrived Friday at about 1 and fished 2 or 3 hours from the east dam, close to the tower and the crook. Not a thing. Windy as hell. Nobody was catching anything from the dam.

Might try again tomorrow before the next front comes in.

Re: Aurora Res. on 10-15.

I have noticed the fishing is much better when its calm, when the wind picks up the bites stops NOW! The bite at Aurora is good also when the wind is coming from the north, over the dam.It seemed most people werent catching many fish, either. I saw you launching there Hammer.I just didnt wanta mess with the waves out there.Figgered it would die down .

Re: Aurora Res. on 10-15.

I fished Aurora for the first time this past Sunday and ended up fishing infront of the boat dock in my belly boat and caught a few. I was usuing black jigs and working them with a slow retrive in about 20' of water.

*Dose anybody have any advise as to where the catfish are biting at Aurora? or what they are hitting?

I went the same day and hooked up with 3 Walleye (one keeper), a perch, and 6 trout (4 of the trout were close to 3lbs.). All my fish were caught by drifting a whole night crawler. I basically stayed in the middle of the lake with aboat all day and fought the wind. There were a few times were I decided to put on my life jacket.
