Aurora tourney today. Shoulder to shoulder fishing from the dam. I tried everything I knew of including some new things. I didn't get a bite, not even a little jump of the rod, so I left at 1:00. Nobody was ctching anything. The people on the far left of the dam, where I usually fish, caught about 4. Other than that nobody caught anything. Horrible day of catching, but a nice day for fishing. Also There were several large schools of massive wiper cruising back and forth along the dam. They were gigantic. Beautiful fish.

Epic --- When I left at 3 no one had caught the 25g or the 5g fish. They said that if they're caught after the tourney, they're worth $500.

Mustang --- I fished the opposite side of the reservoir (other side of marina). Same thing there. Nothing.  Didn't see anyone from shore catch a thing. A few were caught from boats, just in front of fishing dock. I pre-fished the day before, and caught a 15 and a 1/2 inch, and an 18 inch (neither were tagged). Talked w/ DOW rangers around 1:00. They said to turn in anything. At that time the biggest fish turned in was just at 2 pounds. They said before the 1st hour was up a kid turned in a pound and a 1/2 fish, and someone turned in the 1st tagged. Sorry you got skunked, but it sounds like most people were.

P.S. why didn't anyone warn me what a clusterflop that was ?
The fishing dock could have filled an entire episode of America's Funniest Home Video  :D  Oh well, next year.

I remember a couple of people saying it was going to crazy out there.  Look at at this way you don't get the fish for money on the couch.

Sheesh!!! ;D

I thought of mentioning what it would be like out there, but hesitated out of courtesy. ;D It's just me I guess. I don't regard large crowds, elbow to elbow as Fitching.

Fitching is when you can just haul your dynamite in and not be disturbed! ;D

Got six bows total, from a boat, biggest was 2.6#, still pretty good, would have placed in most of the ice derbys lately, needed closer to three to make the board at the end, all trolling before 9am, then the sun came up and so did the mayflies and that was it for us, gotta say that is a pretty awesome fishery, biggest caught was just under 7#, and a couple around 5# and with all of that traffic, pretty cool to be able to see down to the anchor in 20'. We did watch a ranger on shore catch and re-locate a BIG rattlesnake in the back of one of the coves, could hear it rattlin from the boat

I was there as well, got on the lake at 0530, fished all day from a boat and didn;t get a single bite. Tried everything I own and then some.. Most people i spoke with had the same luck. Did watch one guy pull in a huge bow about 1200p just east of boat dock, heard him say it was 6# and change. Good for him, hope he won something. Ranger said there was some 850 people fishing. CRAZY!!!! Good job to all that did catch something, besides a sunburn..
