for those new to baitcasting & birdnests, here is an easy way out.
Visit your local Michael's and buy one or more crocheting needles.
Then if yu like, a 1/2" dowel; shorten the needle. drill the dowel
& epoxy. Paint if you like. It works great & floats. yes, I know
BPS sells their pic but I can make four for the price of their one
There are other ways but this is pain free and always works

That's exactly how I made the shanks I used in the pen. Good times!

Just Joking. Good tip.

One thing I have learned when trying to remove the " professional overrun" is to have the real engaged and the drag set lightly vs having it in freespool mode. It's easier for me to get the line to untangle. If you find a loop, Pull on it, then pull your line from the front of the reel to pull out the loop. You can see the loop that is the culprit if you watch closely and work through each loop in this fashion. People are amazed at what I can get untangled.
If you already dont, try it this way and let me know if it works well for you.

exactly! just use the needle to get hold of the offending loop.
Some reels are to narrow for big fingers.
