I went with a couple of friends to the Grey Reef last weekend. I brought my flyrod, and wouldn't you know it, I forgot my backup spin rod. I did have the Barbie rod, though. We started out flyfishing and had some good luck with jujubees and squirrel leeches. It got kinda slow in the late morning and I got bored so.....I pulled out the Barbie rod and tied on a brown trout Rapala. Within seconds, my drag started screaming. I was worried if Barbie was up to it. Fortunately, Barbie has a sophisticated drag system....On and Off. After a 4 minute fight, I landed her:
Here's another view (look at the mouth!):
A few minutes later, Barbie screams again:
Don't know how big they were, but they weren't much shorter than the Barbie pole--certainly keepers (we threw them on the bank to rot so others won't be able to catch them--just kidding, they were released to fight another day)
By the way, as long as I'm showing pictures, I gotta show you my baby:
She's a Datsun 280Z with a Chevy 383 stroker motor and 2 turbochargers. I built her all by myself. It's what I do when I'm not increasing the breast volume in the universe or fishing. She's got 450 horsies at the rear wheels, or about 600 hp at the crank. Sorry for the gratuitous car porn, but I just had to show you all while I had my pictures up.
