I've taken my boy (4) out a couple of times this year, but the results have been disappointing. Where do you take your kids for some good shore or boat fishing for bluegill and sunnies?

1eye,

Thanks for the tip. BTW, didn't Coot Lake used to be the home of a nudist colony? ;D ;D

Yep! I used to live in Gunbarrel with my family and I remember my pops referred to the lake as the "Nudy Lake". My pops was fresh to the country and at the time didn't even learn the name of the lake yet. He just called it the Nudy Lake (in our 1st language). From what I've heard, Boulder Reservoir used to be part of the sights and scenes too.
Wow, I grew up in Gunbarrel, too. I lived there from the ages of 8 to 12 in what was known as Gunbarrel apartments. This was quite a while ago -- Heatherwood Elementary was a brand new school that just opened up. I understand they are condos now...

1eyeReD: we used to build wooden rafts and goof around at Twin lakes all the time... It was a nice place to grow up given all the fields and water that was there at the time (I also remember catching crawdads in Boulder creek). Anyway, thanks for the reminder.

james: Who knows, maybe they still hang out there -- you'd better check it out on many occasions before you have the kids! ;D
