I was playing around with loading a baitcasting reel with braided line (50 lb Spiderwire on a catfishing reel, an old Abu Garcia Ambassador...overkill maybe as far as line size for this region, but i had an extra spool laying around so i opted to try it) and have had problems with it "digging" in whenever the tenison varied from loose to tight when reeling in extra slack. Is there a better choice as far as braids go for baitcasters? I was going to back it down to 30 lb PowerPro, my usual choice for braids, but will i have the same problems? I ended up with several backlashes the other night, and was wondering if i should change to another braid or go back to monofiliment line...

I use 10lb Sensation on my Slabbing/bouncer rig, and 14" Sensation on my baitcaster that I use for Pike and Bass.

Experiance should tell you that no matter what you do. Braided line will always slip down in the reel. I have tried several kinds and i just go with mono or flora. The brad is so small and limp that it just doesn't stay on top. Just to thin. Stick with the other and don't sweat it .

While braid does stick its easy to fix.
I like the feel and cast abilty of braid. I use 10-20 lb. on my bass size reels.
I just get better results with braid.

I experimented with both mono's and braid and like mono on my baitcasters. I use braids alot on my spinnig reels.

For slabbing spoons and blade baits you need your line to have the diameter of 10 or 12lb test so your spoon will flip over and flutter slowly instead of dropping like a rock!

Sensation or XL 10 or 12 pound line. I have tried braids, floro, fireline on baitcasters and it all sux on them IMO. Stick with mono.

I'll have to agree with most everyone else. I like to use mono when it comes to baitcasters. I mostly fish a 10 lb line.
