I have been wondering this for a while. What is the best trout river that is close to Denver. I often fish the Arkansas, but his is 2.5 hours away. What do you all think the best river is that is still close to denver for short day trips that is still worth the time.. I often fish Clear Creek, but looking for something that holds a few bigger fish, similar to the Ark...

Welcome aboard Clark.

Finding and catching "bigger" fish take some people years to figure out. Like P-dog said do a little research. Giving up that kind of info on a public forum is like giving a teenager the keys to a Lamborghini to drive when they don't even have a permit.....

Thanks for the info and let me clarify.. I'm not necessarily asking for specific locations of where your honey hole is, but instead a general poll to see what some of your favorite rivers are that dont take 2+ hours of driving to get to from Denver. I appreciate the votes for the SP, of all the fishing I have done here (even a little ashamed of this) I have never fished it before! I need to go check it out, and sounds like south the chatfield is a great place to start!
