Sorry guys im just wore out. Woke up at 6am yesterday got to work at 7am left to the lake at 2 in the afternoon started fishing around 6 pm. Drove straight home with out any sleep.

We started out at Bay 4 because we did pretty good there last year. The guys i went with fished from the bottom with crawfish tails i waded out and tossed lures. 2 hours no nibble. I was thinking to myself Oh No not the skunk. We decided to move locations, went to Bay 1 The Dam. Got there a lil before 9pm, saw some guys tossin lures from the bank asked them how the fishing was and they said nothing was biting. Thought to myself Oh No again. We got set up on the dam everyone fishing on the bottom with crawfish tails. Within 5 minutes 3 of us all had little hits all yanked and all struck out. For the next few minutes the same thing keep happening, the guys were like man its some some fish. I told them no watch this. I tossed out my bait and slowly started draggin it BAM FISH ON. The guys started doing the same thing and the fishing got HOT. The white bass seem to like it alot more when the bait was moving. Man they were hitting almost on every cast. We had wipers mixed in with the white bass. Biggest wiper was about 5lbs the average was 3lbs. You can only keep one fish over 18' so we keep four, dont even know how many we threw back. Four guys 1 wiper each 14 white bass each limit is 15 total. 60 Fish didnt included the wipers we threw back. Its kinda sad to throw back a 5lb wiper. There was a ton of baitfish jumping all over the place in front of us. We packed up the car and started to head home when we got to the front exit first thing we saw was flashing lights. 4am the rangers stopped us and made it seem like we just robbed a bank. Told all of us to get out the car and stand in front of the car. Told us we couldnt use our cell phones, i think they thought we were with other people and they didnt want us to call and warn them about the search. They searched my car without asking, counted all the fish. When they were finished they were nice enought to say you can put all your stuff back in, wow thanks. I dont mind gettin checked for fish at all, but they made it seem like we committed a crime. Other than that it was one great night of fishing. Im going to send epic some pics to see if he can post it for me. Sorry for the long story.

:D Dang, it looks like they got that place on lock down! Oh well, all that matters is y'all had a great time! Your family is going to be proud o' you!! Bringing fish home to my parents was always a good feeling. My pops sometimes would eat whitebass and crappie exclusively in the warmer months of the year and since he's too busy to fish, he only gets to eat fish if I go fishing. Well.... I guess it's different now cause he now lives in Minnesota.

But like I was saying.. Great report, good catch and fish on brotha!!

Those are some nice looking fish, really glad the trip worked out for ya.
The Nebraska parks guys get paid on commission so the more tickets they write the more they get paid. Also they have a problem with Colorado Anglers always breaking the rules and keeping way to many fish ect. More then likely that is why you were stopped because of out of state tags.

Good job, 1eye, for waking him up! :D

It sounds (and looks) like it was a hoot HookNline, well except for the rangers. I suppose they are trying to protect the fishery, and maybe your success there past and present proves they are doing something right. I really have to try that lake...

I don't like getting harrased by wannabe cops, but I think I would rather have that than a bunch of people keeping all sorts and fish and the fish and game trying to protect the fish rather than not really enforcing most laws and not caring about protecting fish.

When we were there last week there were quite a few rangers. They seemed to check us and minded there own business. He was pretty proffesional. I think it is OK if they check everybody routinely, but not focusing on a minority group or just people from out of town.

I really like there rules and regulations, and that is why they do have a nice fishery. But I've fished BIG MAC since March and that was the first time I've been checked all year. I think they focus on the Wiper fishermen because last year they had quite a few problems with people from Colorado violating the 18" regulation. It's too bad that a few people's poor decisions reflect everybody else's image and how they treat some of us.

Anyways, enough of that. Let's talk about fishing. We were there last week and even with the bad weather, did manage to catch quite a few fish. We caught 20 plus white bass, 4 wipers, and 4 walleyes. The rain really slowed the fishing down because the ranger told us that between 30-40 boats that he checked that only 15 walleyes were reported.

As all this clears the fishing will get better. Especially for the Wipers. Good luck to all that plan to go there.

mcfly i totally agree with you. Like i said i have no problem gettin checked and it does keep the fishing good to have size limits. But i think they are just after the wiper fisherman cause alot not just some but alot are keeping fish over 18' and i think they should be caught. But man dont take it out on people that are not breaking the rules. Treat me fairly not like a criminal. Well anyways fishing is off the hook at the lake just like it always is every year ill be back saterday so i can get striped searched again LOL.
