Fished the big thompson last weekend. water was low and gin clear, not much action on the surface, mostly fished nymph's. Had a couple hits but couldn't pull the trigger fast enough. Most everyone was slow too.

With several days of warmer weather, going back. Anyone have any suggestions for either flies or spots on the Thompson? Last week used size 20 midge on the surface, then switched to size 18 rse and a size 14 or 16 prince nymph. I fished the bridge right before the private prop up about 100 yards passed the putt putt golf. About 2 bends before the river straightens out. Thanks.

I would recommend you use some white midge larva, brown midge larve and cravens jujubee, sizes 20-26. I would also try some baties emergers and rs2's. If you want to fish dries you should use a shucking midge, dale's midge, bwo's maybe but nothing larger then an 18 and as small as a 28. So be versitile.
