My friend the Greek wanted to go ice fishing ( he loves it) and his all time favourite fish are mackinaw, so I decided to have another go at the "spot".

We hit the ice by 7:00AM and landed about 24 between us.

Nothing gigantic, no trophies, just some nice solid action on fish up to 20 inches, with a nice average of 17 inches.

Success was found a touch deeper than the last time and still the Kasty did the heavy lifting, but we did double rod it, with secondarys running 3 1/2" white tubes, which did get the heavier fish and some real hard hits.:

Here's a shot of an average size one:

Hope everyone is enjoying the ice season as much as I am.

Good work there, brother... Like that sonar!! Looks like a GameBoy. :)

Gameboys still kick ass, and yours is finding you fish. Better than I've been doing lately!

Nice trip, thanks for sharing.

I've never invested in a dedicated ice sonar, that one is a discarded one from the bow of my boat and I have a whopping $8.00 invested in converting it to ice.

When ice fishing, I mainly use the sonar to verify depth, based on GPS co-ordinates derived from lake maps, though it show's if fishy come thru and it did that today, just with less pixels than newer ones.
