Fished Boyd at Heron Cove for about 1.5 hours late this afternoon. Caught a couple of 8-9" perch sight-fishing, and missed several bites on a dead stick I couldn't get to in time. Fishing in 5-10 FOW through about 6" of ice. While sight-fishing, I saw a large walleye swim past my bait a couple of times, maybe cruising the flats looking for smaller perch.

Lots of guys fishing by the inlet pipe when I arrived. I stopped long enough to see a guy ice a moderate-sized bluegill. I love the diversity of fish at Boyd. Wish more of the species grew to keeper size more frequently there, however.

Fished by the pipe with Fishhardwater and his son from about 11:30-3:30.  Between the three of us, we caught about 40 fish.  Mostly bluegills with some small bass.  Seen some crappies pulled out and a few nice bows.  Could see the fish cruising below and seen one nice walleye swim by.  The kid caught most of the fish.  Lots of people fishing.

Hatch... helps to look down the hole if you shade it and get down close. I was on hands and knees sightfishing. I must have seen got muskie when I arrived there. I would have been driving by the red honda civic. I pulled in for about a minute just to see if anyone would catch fish while I was watching, then headed to perch land.

Right! Then inhale deeply.

If you are going Thursday, it will be warm, so hands and knees will likely get wet with slush if you get down close to the hole.

I think I'll design a DIY underwater camera system this winter that can be made inexpensively, if I have time. Just something that looks down at your bait, so you can sightfish using a monitor instead of killing your neck by hanging your head over the hole. hmmm..
