Hi all,

Just curious when the evening catfish bite at Boyd starts to pick up, or are they caught year around? I assume that the action doesn't start till the summer months?

thanks,

Catfish are normally thought of as warm water fish, but actually they eat all year around. They are probably biting now, especially on live bait such as night crawlers and fathead minnows. Haven't been out to Boyd yet this spring, but last year about this same time I caught several 8 pounders.

For shore fishing for Boyd cats, I like to walk along the shoreline straight east from the launch ramp until I get to the point where it begins to curve to the south, and fish anywhere along there. We're not talking exact measurements here. But I have caught quite a few cats in that general area. The largest ones I have seen taken were in the 18-20 pound range, but your usual "big" cat is more like 6 or 7. Lots of fun, though.

Forgot to mention, evening fishing is fine if that's what you want to do, but I catch 'em in the daytime.
