Went out yesterday afternoon to chase down some crappies, was fishing around some downed trees (thank you beavers). I could see some nice slabs scattered around the branches. I was using 1/16oz gitzits under a slip float. As soon as one would come out to look at my bait a damn slimmer would torpedo in a snatch my tube jig! Ended up catching 20 or so slimmers and no crappies! At least the skunk is gone!

Hey man... I just wanna GET OUT to FISH!!! I've been out fishing TWICE this year since the ponds have opened up... Not a flippin' fish!

I know I'm not a great fisherman, but SH**!!!! I can't even land the stupid, starving bass and carp at my local pond.....

And yesterday would have been the PERFECT day to get out... not a ripple on the water (save the rising fish), warm temps.... Just couldn't get out.

And the carp were biting... I just couldn't land em. It's more of me not doing MY part rather than the fish not being interested. Carp are spooky little buggers and they don't eat the same way cats, bass, or trout do.... they're not predatory and they don't eat-first-ask-questions-later.... They gum the bait, spit it out a couple times, then run with it. If you catch em during the run... and before they spit it out again, you can hook em solid. Otherwise, you end up just pissing yourself off.
