Went down to Granby to do some brown trout fishing on jerkbaits, was missing me some open water fishing using jerkbaits. The walleye bite has been hot but man it's fun to get into some browns on smithswick jerkbaits. Well I decided to keep one brown trout for some table fair.

I know many will disagree with me probably but I thought brown trout was one of the best trout I've eaten. Maybe it's because it didn't come out of a hatchery but the meet was vibrant red! Anyway here is a video of the trip and the preparing of the brown trout. We kept only one.

i dont know how you could go wrong with meat looking like that!!! Usually the ones I get are more of a pale color, either for the frying pan or the smoker. Nice job!!

Thanks guys! I absolutely love using jerkbaits to fish. My last three open water trips have all been using jerk baits. The walleye and browns love those Smithswick lures.

And yea the meat was the most vibrant I have ever seen.
