Fished from 7 until 11 AM-caught about 25-all on a senko. Two were over 15", most of the rest were dinks but it was fun. Bluegills were pecking at my senko almost every cast but I had a 1/0 and 2/0EWG hook on the bait. I caught some bass that were so small they had to be last years spawn class so that was good to see. A nice day until just before I left when the wind started to come up. Lots of people out fishing but it looked like a lot of them were trolling or fishing from the bank for trout. They'll start drawing down the lake in a week or so, right now its a high as its been in 3-4 years. Ed

How were you rigging your senko? Were you on shore or in a boat? I think I'll have to go there this week before it starts getting drawn down.

T rigged just like a worm with no weight. I got a small pontoon boat that I use for smaller lakes. With the water so high shore access isn't real good. Alot better from a boat or with waders. Water temp was 65. I fished areas that were still in the shade in the early AM-they were stacked up in there like cordwood. Later in the morning I just fished windy points. Ed

They start lowering the lake usually early June. How much they lower it depends on how much rainfall they get. This lake has a conservation level but thats pretty low-alot of summers the boatramp ends up out of the water. It looks to me like we're gonna have a dry summer-I don't think the drought is over-we just been thru a wet cycle. Hope I'm wrong. :( Ed

I hope your wrong too. :p The rain we been getting I keep getting excited about the water levels, then I'll head south and they didnt get any rain. Then head a little farther south and they got alot, silly Colorado. Hopefully the water levels will stay good, just heard Monument lake is filling up thanks to an agreement with the springs since the runoff is very nice this year.

Took the belly boat out yesterday for about 1 1/2 hours. Before the thunder started. I was just north of the boat ramp in the trees. Landed 3 cats, one 14" one 17" and one 18". Not too bad for a little over an hours worth of fishing. I also brought home a few blue gill. Not sure if any one else had much luck. I was there around 5:00pm and I heard some guys say their last fish was at 10:00am.

i brought my boss and his son out there on monday and we caught and released about 50 bluegill. It was his sons first time and he caught about 10 or so. It was a good time. Right about 2pm, the bite just stopped, it didnt matter where we went.
