used to, back in southern cal and i once nailed about a 10 pounder on a hopper while fly fishing some stream near the university in fort collins i had been drifting worms and eggs and such and had a few hits but no hook ups then i could see these fish sucking something off the surface so i grabed mi fly rod and tossed out this banged up hopper that i had as soon as it hit i saw some movment towards it and 1 twitch was all she wrote and the fight was on now i guess i was fortunate in that i couldnt afford real leaders and just had a hunk of 6 or 8 # mono attached to a $20 walmart special flyrod combo well a good 5 min later i had a toad of a carp up next to me, i must admit i was a little bummed i had hoped for some thing different, heck did i just drive 1,500 miles to catch carp, i could have caught a bunch there was a big school out in the steam feeding on the surface but i moved on to look for something better but it was a blast and wouldnt mind finding that place again

down in northern new mexico right off the 25 i saw this sign for a lake it was a place kinda back and up on top of this mesa and boom just sitting there in the middle of noware is this lake i think there were 2 lakes i was traveling and hadnt planned on fishing in NM so i didnt have a license, but i was contemplating getting the canoe down and going for a cruise, when i heard a camotion in the water and went to the waters edge to see this huge school of carp big fish most 2' long and hundreds of them cruiseing thru the shallow flooded grass it took a good 7-8 min for the whole school to pass by and they were moving at a good clip then as i scaned the lake i could see several other schools around the lake shore i just watcehd for a while and moved on
ive always wanted to try and find that place again
