Fished the reservoir for about 4 hours. Mostly on the West End, the fish where all over the surface, but we had a hard time finding flies that produced. When I say we, I meant I, because I only caught one dinker brown, my gf caught four with two being about 13in, a 15in, and a 17inch rainbow. All where caught on bubble and fly, but I've done well there on lures in the past. On the way out had a 3x3 buck walk real close to us, and I'm about ready for hunting

When do they close these? I always remember thinking it was too early. I don't mean for the day, I mean when do they close for the winter.

Kirbydog - I'd love to answer your question but I can't remember when they close (and I have the brochure at home). The hours for the toll road get reduced to something like 9AM to 4PM after Labor Day but I'm not sure when it closes for the winter. Ice fishing is not allowed.

_Colorado-North Catamount has the best population of lakers. I've caught quite a few here on grubs on a football head. This time of year they're in real deep water. Late fall they should come shallow again-this is why I was wondering when it closed for the season.

Ice fishing not allowed? It doesn't say that in the CDOW regs.

I talked to some ranger chick and she said that when the road closes the lakes are also closed!So no pre ice-up or ice-out fishing.Bummer-

Are those lakes near Pikes Peak, or Eastes Park?

They are about 6 miles up the Pikes Peak toll road - easy access - and great views. I forget about them too often.

I fished North in september a few years ago and the lakers were hammering my gold thomas bouyant.Both on the dam and around the shore.
