I now realize how little I know about fishing. I thought I could get some action at Harvey Gap after work, so I walked along the dam, throwing spoons, jerk baits (perch) and spinners.

I was shocked at how much the lake has been drawn down, looking almost like they are going to drain it dry. Nothing was moving and nobody was there except me and a bat. One of those fox bats. Very peaceful.

But then the bat fell in the water and started swimming. So Harvey Gap=pike and tiger muskies, and the bat is doomed right? Nope, it swam a good 50 yards ...plop plop plop.. and nothing bothered it before it made it to shore.

At that point, I decided I wasn't going to get any action at that spot and left.

Maybe smallies at Rifle Gap?
